Who we are and Why we're here
I'm Michael Stierhoff, I live in Raleigh North Carolina and I've been modifying guitars for over 30 years.

Performing on guitar, bass and keyboards, my early education was hands on- learning by doing, modifying guitars and basses to meet real world needs.

As the CMO of one of the first Digital Audio Workstation manufacturers, I had the opportunity to work with top technology, talent and some of the best instruments ever built.

And as a producer and recording engineer, I leaned that optimal sounds and configurations differ from individual to individual; what works for you doesn't necessarily work for me.
So our goal is simple- we’re the ‘matchmaker’ between you and the guitar that has the tone and feel that you need. The Guitar You Dream About brings the experience necessary to modify that guitar to support your perfect sound.
We cover the US, we appreciate that North Carolina is full of creative musicians, and our customers come from Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Greensboro, Charlotte, the coast and everywhere in between!

Scale length, wood, hardware, amps and effects; we examine all of the variables to come up with the design that sounds and feels right for you.
We navigate the complications of aftermarket parts and custom controls, helping you find your perfect sound with the least amount of effort on your part.
